October One Monthly Goal Met and a Stash Report from Sew........This Is My Blog

My October One Monthly Goal was to finish and gift the I Spy quilt for Baby Vivi, and I did it.  It was finished and gift wrapped for several days, but I didn't get by there to drop it off until the afternoon of the 31st.  Phew!  That was close.

I guess I was really focused on finishing, because I didn't take any "in process" photos.  How about some slightly fuzzy close-ups instead?

Cute prints, and bright colors, and Tom & Jerry, and cupcakes .....

..... and a sweet custom label made by my friend Denise, aka Vivi's gramma.

Ive been gone for a while... from Northern Deb Quilts

Posting on my blog on a fairly regular basis was how I shared my quilting makes, for years. But since covid it's been VERY sporadic because Instagram is so much easier....and life in general was not. So I'm back again...I hope. I do not have internet at home. I use the library for the most part...or my phone. And cell service out here is touch and go. Dropped calls are the norm here. Eggs and Bacon from Sew Preeti Quilts

Happy to be Scrappy

Me: Good morning
Paul (groan)
Me: Would you like some breakfast?
Paul: Do we have bacon?
Me: I don't think so.
Paul (Bigger Groan + A Whine)
Me: I can make you an egg sandwich.
Paul: Without bacon??? Why did you wake me up anyway?

How to put these together?

The smaller block needs help

Black floral + orange/yellow stripe is better than just the stripe

Matched size = Success

And so it grows!!!

Eggs without bacon is an insult...at least in Paul's opinion.
So when this cute pig ended up next to the eggs ...

I Spy a Penelope Rose from Sew........This Is My Blog

I do love an I Spy quilt.  There are so many fun novelty prints out there. Penelope Rose would be here soon, and her quilting Gramma already had a bunch of quilts awaiting her arrival, so I decided a toddler sized I Spy quilt would be the perfect gift.  I dug into my bag of scrappy novelty prints and my Biscotti jars of strips, and made a plan.

Even the simplest block works with interesting fabrics and bright colors.

I had everything from kites and cows to ice cream cones, silly hippos, baby chicks, and lobsters.

Even platform shoes!
